My people like to leave me, all alone, locked up in a box while they go out and take joyrides on their bikes –on the beach. I really hate when they leave me alone so I asked them if I could go with them – they laughed at me and said, “Dooley Bear, there is no way you could keep up with us – you’re too old” (my people are so nice to me)….So I asked them again – what if you get a thing for me to sit in and just pull me behind? I like sitting….I like to feel the sea breeze in my ears…I would really love to go for one of these bike rides.
I guess my people like me more than I think because about 28 months after I suggested this (I’m a dog remember…time is different for me) they brought this giant box home….and they kept telling me – this is your cart! Do you like it?
All I know is that is smelled funny but hey, if I can go for bike rides on the beach I’m in.
They walked me over to it and told me to get in – so I got my front paws in but had difficulty getting my butt in – so Ronnie had to lift me up and set me in (ok – so maybe I am not as spry as I used to be)….In my opinion it was pretty small – it’s like my people forgot that I am a big boy….but that’s ok – I’ll try my best. I could feel the excitement in the air and hear it in their voices – “this is going to work!” I overheard them saying…..so we all headed outside.
Ronnie attached this cart to his bike and Lisa helped me get inside of it again. I was just sitting there in the sun when they asked me, “are you ready?” Ready? What am I supposed to be doing?
Ronnie jumped onto his bike and started moving his legs…then all of a sudden I started moving too! This was great! The wind was blowing through my ears…I was riding a bike!
As I was riding along I was picturing all of the great new adventures that were in store for me – “now I get to ride my bike along the beach and go to beach bars and flirt with the ladies (I mean come on, who can resist me when I’m riding a bike?)”….I was just sitting there, enjoying the ride when BAM! My cart tipped over and the ride was over……the dream was over.
Maybe one day my people will try again – get me a cart that will actually work for a guy my size – but hey, if all I ever get in this life is one bike ride, at least I have that.
I loved my bike ride!
