That’s right – you read correctly. We had our very own Price is Right here in San Pedro! As part of San Pedro Lobsterfest 2017, The Truck Stop put on their very own version of the Price is Right! It took a lot of creativity and construction, but they pulled it off!
The stage was set for a fun night!
They even constructed “the wheel” – it had glitter and everything!
People were already gathering an hour before the “scheduled” start time of 7:00.
Since this was an official Lobsterfest event, the Crawl Crew was there to stamp passports and sell official Lobsterfest gear.
For those wanting the opportunity to be called on stage, there was a sign-up sheet. After you signed up you were given an official name tag!
It’s a good thing we arrived an hour early…the seats went quickly!
Even Lisa needed a “reserved seat” –
Joe Chung took the stage and the games began!
Ben Popik and Adam Feldman did an incredible job at the “command center”…..
They had the theme music playing and everything.
Joe began announcing the names of the first 4 lucky contestants…. “Come on Down!”
It worked just like on TV – the four contestants were shown an item and they had to bid on it….but it was a little different because they used white boards to write their answers on. But just like on the real show, there was a “Barker Beauty”. Brittany Lynn Cory did the most amazing job of presenting all of the fabulous prizes!
By the way, notice the gorgeous blonde on the screen in the back? That’s actually Joe Chung…..sporting a blonde wig and sexy red dress. We were slightly disappointed that he chose a black shirt and cargo shorts instead of the red dress….but oh well.
Our friend Brittney made it on stage and got to play a pricing game. She walked away with these awesome prizes and a million dollar grin!
She got to spin the big wheel…..It’s Showcase Showdown time!
Joe is holding the microphone because he was the official sound effect for the wheel.
beep, beep, beep, beep……
Unfortunately, Brittney didn’t make it into the final Showcase.
Another friend of ours, Ryan, got called up and made it past the bidding portion and got to play a pricing game.
Here is is trying to decide if he should buy olive oil, a snack pack of pudding or a box of macaroni and cheese.
Ryan didn’t end up winning his pricing game, but he did hit the $1.00 on the big wheel in the Showcase Showdown and made it to the final Showcase! He also won a $100.00 gift certificate to the Truck Stop!
But before we talk about the final Showcase, the very last game of the night was everyone’s favorite:
Here are the guys setting up the incredible Plinko board –
The contestant was able to win three (?) wood disks to send down the well constructed Plinko board….
Some of the wood disks got stuck on the way down, but that was ok. They just shook the board to get them moving again.
After Ryan won big in the Showcase Showdown it was time for the final Showcase.
Brittany gave each of the contestants their own showcase board.
Ryan was preparing for his turn by “hydrating”.
Ryan thinking hard of the value of the prize.
(Although we think he was more concerned about the sexy Joe peering over his shoulder!)
Each of the final contestants bid on a great prize that included a couple nights stay at Hidden Valley Inn and flights on Tropic Air. What a great prize!
And the winner is……a guy we don’t know!
But we do know that he was having the time of his life on his vacation in San Pedro!
There you have it.
We’d say it was more than successful…..games were played, prizes were won and lots of laughs were had!
This tale should answer one of the most frequent questions we get asked:
Don’t you get bored?
Nope. Never. Only boring people get bored!
