The phone rang the other morning (which annoyed me because it woke me up)…..Lisa answered it and then said something to Ronnie. I’m not sure who was on the other line – maybe it was a doctor because I think I overheard something about “kiteboard fever”. For being told he was sick with some sort of fever Ronnie sure seemed happy. I don’t know what this kiteboard fever is, but I sure hope I don’t catch it – I hate going to the doctor.
For some reason this fever required Ronnie and Lisa to leave the house and go outside….Lisa was nice enough to bring me along instead of putting me in my jail – so I was happy. We all walked outside and Ronnie met up with two other guys who had this giant bat-wing looking thing lying on the ground. Lisa said it was really colorful but I just saw shades of gray. They started pumping air in it and taking all these lines out and lying them on the ground – it was all taking a long time so I decided to take a nap under a picnic table.
What felt like hours later Lisa wakes me up and tells me “come on – we’re gonna go on a boat and watch Ronnie kiteboard”. I still don’t get what this kiteboard thing is and why, if he has a fever he isn’t at home in bed resting….but I heard the most important word of all: BOAT. I LOVE going on boat rides! So even if I do end up catching Ronnie’s fever, it’ll be worth it because I get to go for a boat ride!
Lisa and I hop (well Lisa hopped, Ronnie had to lift me and put me in) into the boat and were told to stay in the back – they didn’t want me getting tangled up in all these lines that were in the front of the boat…..Ronnie gets in with the huge grey bat-wing thing and sits on the front of the boat…..what is he doing? It looked like the giant thing was just going to fly away. Then a guy they called Bradley put a wakeboard into the boat…..I remember that from Lake Wylie but he never had to hold onto a giant bat-wing thing.
So off we go for our boat ride – Lisa and I sitting in the back, Bradley driving and Ronnie sitting on the front of the boat keeping the giant thing from flying away. So this is kiteboarding? Seems just like boating to me. But wait – then Bradley stopped the boat and tossed out an anchor and told Ronnie to jump in the water with the huge bat-wing thing. Now Ronnie is standing in the water flying this thing – why couldn’t he just do this on the shore? Why did we have to take a boat? But I kept my mouth shut – like I said I love boat rides and I wasn’t going to ruin this one for me.
Next Bradley threw the wakeboard out to Ronnie, while he was hanging onto the giant bat-wing – I thought it was going to take Ronnie up, up and away – but it didn’t. Then Ronnie put the wakeboard on his feet and started using the giant thing to pull him around the water. I was having fun watching Ronnie and it was a really windy day – I loved feeling my ears blowing in the breeze. After a while I got tired and decided to take another nap. I love napping on boats too!
Eventually Ronnie and the giant bat-wing got back into the boat and we got to take another ride back to the beach. (which I was happy about because I had to pee!)
Guess what? I’ve got a fever – and the only prescription is more kiteboarding
Sounds like Ronnie’s got the kiteboard fever really bad and the only cure is more kiteboardng. So this fever doesn’t sound like it such a bad thing to catch – no doctor visits and instead of rest and medicine the cure is boat rides and sunshine.
Uh oh, I think I feel a case of kiteboard fever coming on!
