It was just a regular Thursday here in San Pedro, Belize when Ronnie got a message from our friend Joe, “hey, Maya Island Air is looking for a couple to do a photo shoot for a future print ad- are you and Lisa interested?”
With zero hesitation the answer was “Yes!” Of course, right? We never pass up an opportunity to try something new – something that sounds fun.
After sending in some pictures to Maya Island Air we were picked for the photo shoot! We were asked to bring several different “wardrobe changes” since this was a travel shoot.
How fun is this – we not only get to do a photo shoot, but we get to dress up in “costumes” too.
We picked out several outfits, packed some in luggage and others we hung in our really fancy garment bag – Who would have ever thought that we would have needed a garment bag here in Belize?
Check out our fancy waterproof garment bag!
Maya booked us on the 12:00 flight over to Belize City Municipal Airport. They put us on the small plane so it was just the two of us and the pilot – it was our “private jet” over to the mainland.
In addition to the two of us and our luggage a piece of mail and somebody’s lunch was also flown over to the city.
Behind us, in the trunk, sat all of our luggage and our garment bag!
The pilot was so professional – before he taxied down the runway in San Pedro he made the inflight announcements:
“Welcome to Maya Island Air flight 215 with service to Belize City. Total flight time will be 15 minutes. Sit back and enjoy your flight”
The view on our way to the big city –
As soon as we arrived at the airport we were met by Andrew who organized the shoot and he put us in a taxi for the 5 minute ride over to the studio.
Here’s the big TV studio in Belize City!
We walked upstairs and entered a room that had this sign on the door:
What?!? How cool is this….we get to go into the studio for the best morning show in Belize!
Here we are on the Open Your Eyes couch….I think we need to do a morning show too!
Ronnie covering a late breaking news story….
After we were shown our studio Andrew left for a few minutes to grab us some snacks……so we were left – alone – in a television studio…..hmmmm…..there’s a giant green screen! Let’s take some shots…..(hey we had to entertain ourselves, right?)
Ronnie the weather forecaster…
Lisa holding up something really, really heavy….
Okay – enough fun – time to get to work.
We put all of our clothes out so they could pick the best outfits for each theme.
Our set – airplane seats!
Notice the legs of the seats?
Airplane seats –
Very secure when bolted to an airplane
Very insecure when not bolted to an airplane
Lets just say there was a minor incident with a seat tipping over……
Andrew put music on and it was time to go to work…..
Wow! Did you see that!
We were so excited to see our very first palm tree on the beach!
Oh that hat…..Lisa is wondering why she brought it over!
The photo shoot took 2 hours to complete – whew! That’s a lot of work for us!
We made it to the municipal airport in Belize City to hop on the 3:30 flight back to San Pedro…..but we didn’t have a direct flight this time. On the way home we made a stop on Caye Chapel to pick up somebody who went there for the day to golf.
Landing on Caye Chapel for the quick pickup –
So – how did the actual photos turn out?
Will our pictures end up being used in a future Maya Island Air ad?
Only time will tell…..
We had such a fun day with everyone doing the photo shoot…..thanks so much for the opportunity to do something new!
